SYNOPSIS

“The Observer & The Observed” shows what happens when we look through someone else’s eyes and get a different perspective on mental health, diversity, and stigma.  It follows sixteen artists of varied styles as they get to know four families, all of whom have children touched by mental health challenges.  Mixing footage of the families’ and artists’ interactions with interviews and glimpses into the creative process, this documentary shows the way people learn and change – or don’t – when asked to step outside their comfort zones.  This footage and the final artwork challenge viewers to rethink the assumptions they make about children and families.
